That's hilarious Larry being that Ganyana has taken more buffalo with the 9.3 than you've told lies... USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

Have taken a 9,3x62 on two of my three trips to Africa. With 286 gr Nosler Partitions the chambering performs superbly ... way beyond rational expectations. Does an wonderful job on piggies in South Texas ... many DRTs. Didn't fiddle around too much loading for it. Found an accurate charge of RL-15 and OK with the 2425 fps resulting. Did load a few old 250 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and liked them ... but they're not made any more. I would expect the 250 gr Accubond to be a very good projectile for the chambering as well. I have used the 230 gr. GSCustom bullets for deer and antelope and a limited amount of plainsgame and that is an awesome bullet... I load my 26 inch 9.3x62 to 2560 FPS last chronograph testing of 10 rounds and taking out the high and low..I can do that with H414 and RL15 and come close to it with my 20 inch barreled gun. With 286 gr. Noslers and others. Keep in mind to be legal one has has to reach 2520 FPS with a 286 gr. bullet to be legal in Zimbabwe. you can come very close to that figure with the 300 gr. Swift also, but I will not quote anyone my loads as the must be loaded with care and testing to tweak out the best in them..... Pierre van der Walt in his great book African Dangerous Game Cartridges scolds American reloaders because they underload the 9.3x62 when Africans have been loading them with 300 gr. bullets to legal for years..I have to agree with him on that, and the reason is the load books are allowing for those old weak mausers that are floating around out there an frivoulous lawsuits abound the the USA...Same for the 7x57.. Damn, a 9.3 with a 250 at 2650 is 13 ft-pds short of the minimum energy for hunting in Zimbabwe. 320s at 2400 meet the requirement with ease. Ray, any idea if 9.3s are sensitive to POI shifts switching between loads?

How does the Zimbabwe official determine if you meet the power factor? Do they chrono your load?

Rob - When any hunter checks in through Customs in Zim with a 9.3 and states he is hunting dangerous game an offical at the airport immediately takes him out back to his "personal" crono and makes you prove it's up to Zim regs. Actually he justs wants to get you away from prying eyes and tells you for $$$$ he will pass you right through. Thought everyone knew about this process? Larry Sellers SCI (International) Life Member

Sounds about par for the course. I've not been to Zim yet. I'm still getting hustled by the Delta guys at JoBerg

Gents, Not to go too far off topic as I'm waiting to see the host's finished product, I had one question. I bought the attached 9.3x62 rifle recently. It's a custom built on a husky frame and barrel. It eats up Nosler ammo and Privi. Accurate and almost nonexistent recoil. But is the husky considered and "old mauser" action that I shouldn't load up? If Nosler ballistics are correct, which I have to check, I'm not that worried but wondering about building some HFC loads.
