I REALLY like the 168 Gr TTSX by Barnes in the .308. I find that most .308's are at peak performance with a bullet in the 165gr weight range.

All of my 308s shoot very well with the 165 bullets. Right now, I am working with the Nosler Accubond with very nice results.

Thanks for guiding guys! Can you let me know, what group I will expect at 100 meters i.e. 1/2" group or 1" group, the reputatio I heard about M03 Extreme is very high & tight group, is it correct? Please light on it.

The .308 with a 165 gr. bullet compares to the 30-06 with a 180 gr. bullet, both at about 2700 FPS. The 06 has an edge of 20 grs. and that's not a heck of a lot of edge IMO...

Personally I prefer the 150 gr. Nosler partition for elk and the 150 Balistic tips for deer and antelope in the .308

Both are accurate bullets in my rifle, with the edge in accuracy going to the Balistic tip as usual. BTW the 125 gr.Nos. Bal tip is an awesome central Texas whitetail load where the better bucks average about 125 lbs. Its my choice for accuracy thus for coyotes and these smaller deer from a 100 yard stand and broadside shots.

Accuracy has more to do with the barrel first then the bedding etc, as opposed to the make and action of the gun. All rifles are individuals, some better than others.

I am a huge fan of the Nosler Accubond bullets. My favorite for hunting is Texas is the 150 grain.

Congratulation on your M 03. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine!

I shoot the 165 Sierra HPBT in mine almost exclusively. 2d most accurate bullet after Hornady HP Match in my rifle. Never had any reason to change from the Sierra, it works just fine.

I'm with Rusty. My 308s all like the 150 grain Accubond. I've shot several big northern whitetails with it and it works fine.

I think if you want 1 bullet for all hunting, in a .308 look close at the barnes ttsx.
If your rifle likes 150s great, 168s about the same on most game.
If you hunt anything bigger than Elk try the 168 1st.

Depends what you want to hunt with it. Alot of blokes in Aust swear by the Speer or similar 130grain bullets. Mainly on goat, pigs and deer.

if you want to hunt larger then a good 150grain bullet is hard to beat but nothing wrong with a good 165grain or 180 grain bullet if after large or tough musceled animals.

I use 155 grain ACP Medium projectiles in my 308 and 155grain ACP hard in my 300RSAUM. These are a mono metal boar riding bullet. They open up to 3 pettals that are razor sharp. If they shed the petals in 308 you have 3 decent side projectiles wizzing around in the animal. The core develops secondary expansion. The 308 opens to around .5 of an inch.

Lot's of good advice and recomendations here so far... I'll add my 2 cents..

What is the "sweet grain"? I would say it depends on the twist in your barrel. There have been many posts related to this.
For a 308 with a 1:12 twist, bullets in the 125-170 grain would give the best accuracy.
For a 308 with a 1:10 twist, bullets in the 155 - 220 gr should offer teh best accuracy.

Note that bullets in the 160-170 grain are a good compromise for both twist rates, so I would suggest you start there.

Where I live a 308 is best suited with 165gr and 180gr bullets. The 150gr never seemed to really be better than the 165gr for any purpose I used it for. The case seemed to small for the 200gr with our domestic propellants.

Dear All,
Thanks for sharing experiences, unfortunately, here, premium rounds like Hornady, Barnes ttsx, Accubond type ammo are not available, but Sellier & Bellot 180 grain and POF Nostler 165 grain with some chinese and Nato rounds are widely available.
I am going to take all round to shooting range to use 5 round each at 100 meters and will definately share results to all.
The game here are exclusive and not weigh much, max you can get in range of 40lb to 80lb animals like Ibex, Urial, Hogdeer, Chinkara, Markhor etc...
Regards to all.
