Has anyone checked the fps on the PRVI Ammo from Graft in the 9.3 X 62; 285 gr SP offering? I purchased 3 boxes of this ammo and 100 bulk bullets for my 9.3 X 62 and just wondered if anyone had figured out what it's loaded to? Picked up my new CZ 550FS and it's a real beauty. Probably won't be able to take it to the range for a week of so as we are supposed to get more snow in the next couple of days. It's driving me nuts not getting to shoot this thing. Thanks. Larry Looking forward to your range report! I will be curious as to your impression of the PRVI ammo and want to hear about the rifle as well. I have a 9.3x62 project in the works and was looking at buying the PRVI bullets and Graf brass and rolling my own, Let us know how it all does for you. Looks like we have more snow in the forecast for Friday and Saturday too.

I just got my shipment of PRVI 286gr bullets this morning. The temp gauge in the Dodge said 46-degrees, and I headed out to the range. Windy, so I went to the below ground level pistol pits. At 50yds four went into .89" and the chrono said 2523fps from 57.5gr of H414. The load is about all I would want to shoot, and might be a little on the spicy side at 90+ degrees...but not quite flat primers and easy extraction. Web expansion was less than .001" over the factory PRVI stuff. I am really liking this CZ and the cartridge a LOT! Weighed some of the bullets, they are rather uniform at less than 2gr spread. A guy might want to lay in a supply of them, both brass and bullets before the word gets out and greed rears its' ugly little head...like 500 of each. I feel pretty comfortable in suggesting that the 9,3x62 will be the most popular newcomer for 2007 in medium bores. Rich NRA Life Member DRSS Gosh I love my CZ 9,3x62.

Um, IS I really don't think you need a 9.3x64! your 62 is making it feel a little inadequate!

The bullets I received look really good and so does the ammo. My question was "has anyone chronographed the factory ammo??" Larry Sellers

Another question? Who makes the brass that Graft and Sons sells? Is it PRVI? I kinda like the idea of stockpiling 500 each of brass and bullets, so keep the results coming in on loads with these two products. Larry Sellers

I shot several boxes of this ammo and my rifle really shot it well. Accurate as hell but I don't chrono. my ammo. But....on another thread someone chronoed these and said it was between 2300 & 2400 as I remember. As far as the brass - I have reloaded all the 9.3x62 brass I have...twice. I found there is a variation in the rim diameter. In other words, some are grabed easily by the bolt some bind as the bolt goes down over the rim. It may also be the thickness of the rim. I throw out 10-20% of the brass because of this problem. I didn't hunt with the PRVI ammo - was told the bullet might not hold up on Elk - reloaded 286gr Partitions. They worked out to be just as accurate Lance Lance Larson Studio lancelarsonstudio.com

H414 is about the same as WW760, if memory serves, and it is too slow for the 9.3x62 with a 286gr bullet. I'd suggest Varget, which has performed best for me, or 4895 or RL15; but Varget has proved itself to me. A good starting load FOR MODERN BOLT GUNS ONLY would be about 57gr of Varget or RL15 or 55gr of H4895 and standard large rifle primers. You should be able to work up to about 2400fps for a 22" barrel. Kudude I have not taken any game with the Privi Partisan, but it is only slightly less accurate that partitions or Woodleighs, and would be a great deer bullet. k-d

Riodot - What was your loading data for the Noslers? I was thinking the same thing about going with Nosler Parts or Barnes TSK for my Namibia trip.

LarrySellers, You can use the data above with Nosler Partitions and Woodleighs. I don't know what you will be hunting, but the Partition is a very tough bullet. I have put them through eland and zebra with very little upset at under 100 yards. Both died DRT, but I was bit shocked at how little expansion there was. I shot a large white tail doe with a 286 Woodleigh at about 100yds and had an exit wound the size of a quarter. Kudude

I've never chrono'd it myself. However, just for reference, the factory spec velocity is 690 meters per second which is 2264 fps. (Meters x 3.28084 = Feet) see: http://www.prvipartizan.com/rifle.php -Bob F.

My load measures 3.270" with the Nosler 286gr PT. I fudged a bit, I had a box of the really old Norma ammunition with the 286gr spitzer FMJ loads. I just set a round in the press and screwed the die down until I felt the crimp ring touch, backed it off a hair, and then screwed the seating stem down until it touched. If you have a PT handy, it is just to the back edge of the crimp groove. For hunting I would definitely use the crimper. CZ 9,3x62...everyman's magnum...without the belt or recoil. Rich

All my reloading data is boxed up since i am moving this weekbut, i can tell you I used Varget powder. The other data posted using Varget should work fine Lance Lance Larson Studio lancelarsonstudio.com

Larry I am almost positive the Grafs brass is PRVI. I have loaded a bunch of it with 0 problems. I load 59 grains of RL15 and a 286 Nosler or North Fork, velocityis identical at 2414 fps. My best load is with 65 grains of Ramshot Big Game and a 286 North Fork and this goes right at 2500 fps, this was Barsness' load for the 9.3x62 and I have had several others use it as well with great accuracy. I didn't have my 9.3x62 when I was in Namibia, but it is an ideal cartridge for that area, did flatten a 7' black bear with it in BC last year with the 286 North Fork-Big Game load. I have never shot a factory load in my 9.3 as most seem to be a bit anemic. A shot not taken is always a miss
