Going to hash prices over on a Carl Gustaf 1917 and a Rem. 03a3. Both appear to be original military dress. The 96 bolt does not match the action. Both have no rust or serious dings in the wood. Both have great finish on the metal. what is a good price on each? Gotta make this quick; in the morning to make an offer! thanks Mike

The 96 is a mismatch making it a shooter grade rifle. Bore condition is mucho important, assuming you want it was a shooter. I'd say, $300 tops given it is a mismatch. Aut vincere aut mori

Z; thanks for the quick feedback. I bought the Swede, the bolt # matches the action and the bore is great. So I sprung for the 325 and took it home. after I got it home it is starting to worry me some. It is too clean maybe. The stock only has one little ding, all the metal is crisp and blued with crown cartouches. The bolt assembly is very bright and works like blue snot. The stock has a crown and G96 behind the trigger guard. The trigger guard # does not match the action. It is jammed full of brown cosmoline. what is the best guess on what I actually bought?

You likely bought one of the many pristine M96s that came into the country, especially in the early 90s. I bought two, one just like you describe. If it has the brass disc on the buttstock, google it to find out how good the bore and throat are. They are exceptional rifles. Mine is a 1915 Carl Gustav. I (oh the horror) sporterized mine and it is one of my most accurate rifles with it's original barrel. Enjoy. Dave

I have never shot a remington 03A3in pristine condition but I have a springfield in not pristine condition with a 2 groove barrel that does less than one inch at 100 yards using a scope and 150 gr handholds. I have had two 96, actually one 96 and one sweetish model 38. It , as another user has said is exceptional. With iron sights I was able to shoot 1 1/2 inch groups (plural) at 100 yards. After using these and other military rifles I have often said to myself why are are modern commercial rifles with a leupold scope only equal in accuracy to these 75 year old rifles with iron sights?

Started out with a 1942 Husky model 38 then progressed to another 1896 Carl Gustav and before I retired got a deal on 4 1896's @ 75 bucks each. Figured that if either of my daughters ever wanted to go hunting I'd at least have a nice basis for a sporter. Well that never happened so I now own 6 Swedes.Frank

Swede 96-$400 Remington 03A3 - $750 I shoot vintage bolt action matches and these are the prices these rifles are going for and selling at these prices. Good luck on finding these a good home. Swift, Silent, & Friendly

hacksawtom, I assume you shoot the original battle sights on those rifles, if so do you have a source for a taller front sight to bring the bullets down lower at 100 yards on a 96 swede? Thanks for the comments. I should have bid longer on the 03; it was absolutely mint. But I did ok on the swede so I will leave it as issued until I sell it or take it down for a build. Mike
