I bought a M98, Krupps octagon barrel in 7x64 from Bass Pro Shop in Vegas today.. It should be home by the weekend for pics.

Claw mounts (know anyone with rings??)
DS triggers w/shotgun guard.
barrel mounted sling spud.
very light color walnut stock.

Good show man! Do post pictures.

The claw mounts may pose a problem as I believe the rings are made mount specific and can be pretty pricey to replace. However, they're great once they're complete! You'll love this rifle.

Congrats!

A great cart. choice. If I didn't have a .280, I would own a 7x64. thumb
Unfortunately, you'll probably have to have custom rings made.

Outstanding cartridge. It makes the most out of a standard 98 and a 7mm bullet. I've owned two of them, a Walter Roll Oberndorf 98 and a Brno 22f.

There are sever folks here in the US that can fit claw rings for you, Mark at NECG is very good. Expect to pay about $500-600, no matter who does the work.

Been carrying a pair of 7x64s around for years, accurate as hell, but I only carried them as back ups for other rifles. Finally used one of them, a Steyr, in Africa. Bingo, perfect performance, and the best thing about them is that I discovered a factory load that both rifles like, inexpensive S&B 173 grain bullets! You never can tell.

My Golden Eagle didn't care for the S&B 270's but maybe I'll have better luck with the 7x64.

Thanks
