I've been trying to avoid the whole .375 Ruger thing but its hopeless. The last photo I've seen of a loaded .375 Ruger cartridge made the thing looked rather short-necked and stocky, sorta like the gal still sitting at the bar at closing time. So along with everyone else thinking about .XXX Ruger wildcats, it occurred to me that wedding the 9.3x62 with the Ruger case would be interesting.

I was thinking that I would move the shoulder back quite a bit to give it a longer neck, maybe 1.1-1.2 diameters, make life easier for reloaders. Plus a little less case capacity would fit the 9.3 Ruger in between the 9.3x62 and the .375 Ruger in terms of power and recoil, and be a better match for the softpoints designed for the plodding 9.3.

Agree? Disagree?

9,3x63 x .375 Ruger = 9,3x64 Brennecke

I like the sound of a 9.3X375 Ruger.

Yeah, but the Brennekes never got popular here. I do believe many decades ago they were imported in US/Canada sporadically, but after the American magnums started appearing the European cartridges faded from the scene AIUI.

American-made bullets for the 9.3 seem to be increasing slowly, a 9.3 Ruger factory cartridge might really plant the 9.3 flag here.

A .358 Ruger would also be good, again I'd move the shoulder way back to reduce the case volume to about 80 grains, so it would be a "35 Whelen Turbo" rather than a ".358 RUM". 275 grain bullets could be loaded way the heck out and still feed well and not cramp the powder charge. Nice long neck for bullet grip.

Actually, the 9.3x375 Ruger should give a bit more case capacity. They are the same length but the x64 is slimmer and more tapered. It results in better feeding (my conversion of a 7x57 Brno ZKK 600 to a 9.3x64 required little work to make it feed smoothly). However, with a good 'smith anything could be made to feed. It only depends on how deep your pockets are.
I personally think the Ruger case would better serve going up. For instance a .395 Ruger or a .423.

Hello gentlmen, i am new to the site and have found that many of you are enamored with the 9.3. I also have been bit by the 9.3 bug and to hear you all talk about the 9.3 in the new ruger sound very interesting because i have been seriously considering rebarreling my remington 338 to 9.3 to give it the same ump as the 64. Have any of you known anyone with the 338 convertion?

About two weeks ago, my gunsmith finally sent my 9.3x338. I've done some handloading for it, but nothing serious yet until the snow melts some more.

So far, I really like it, but it turned out a little heavier than I thought it would, but that makes recoil seem milder than I thought it would too.
