Action length due to calibers offered in each one.

The VSSF is for short actions, the Senderro for long ones. Other than that, they're pretty much the same, far's I can tell.

Super stock design for benchresting, nice wide forend, etc.., and, they're not the "Tupperware" cheapo stocks either. I THINK they're McMillan's or something.

My understanding was that the stocks WERE H-S Precision. Now, they are made by Bell & Carlson.

The VS I bought in Jan has a HS stock, as does the VSSF I bought my son last year, and a call to Remington just now got a "man we switch around so often, but right now I think it's HS", when I sent my VS back to the repair shop last June, they put a new HS stock on it, so if they're parts dept. is using HS, so is the factory. I'm not sure who makes the stocks, but, in my opinion (and I own 50 rifles), either of these two Remingtons are EXCEPTIONALLY GREAT VALUE for shooters. Again, I own and shoot about 50 different rifles, and my four Sendaros are the best off the shelf !!!

I called remington on the very subject of stocks,..and got an honest answer. I have posted this before,..and will post it again.

As far as I can tell,...ALL sendero's have an HS stock,..but the VSSF stocks have been contracted to BOTH HS and B&C. If you remove your rifle from the stock,..you will notive a stamp in the barrel channel just in front of the lug recess. If the stamp is a "circle" shape,...it is an HS stock,..if it is an "oval" shape,..it is a Bell and Carlson stock. This is info directly from an employee of remington.

My VSSF 220swift had no trouble printing SEVERAL groups in the "teens" .018" and .019" on a no-wind afternoon with 52gr match kings an no gunsmith work,..while it sits in a Bell and Carlson stock (oval stamp in the channel). So,..in conclusion,..I would say the stock manufacturer is of little consequence as both have full length bedding blocks and are the same size.

As for the original question,..the previous answers are spot on. The Sendero (spanish for "long path" i.e. long range) is the magnum or long action version,..and the VSSF is the short action version)

Buy every one you can get your hands on,...I personaly find them to be the most accurate out of the box rifle on any gunstore shelf.
