All you guys convinced me of what I really was pretty sure of all along. Never hurts to have someone else and their ideas before making the final decision. Just ordered the 550 FS today and my dealer said it will be in by next Tuesday. Jumped on line with Midway and have brass and bullets coming also. I really am looking forward to using this gun in Namibia in May/June. You think I had a lot of questions now, just wait until I have this thing in hand. Thanks again to all that contributed their knowledge and expertise. Have a Happy New Year and All the Best for 2007 Larry Sellers

Congratulations! Give a long look at the North Fork 250-grain soft points. They do a pretty good job in the 9.3 in my somewhat limited experience. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

great choice!!!!! If I may suggest something: shop at Graf & Sons. Buy 200 of the PRVI bulk 286gr bullets $20 per hundred and a hundred 286gr Nosler Partition bullets (at Nosler) and a hundred Lapua or Norma cases. Get your one moa full power load developed with the Partitions and load forty rounds for the trip. Shoot the 200 PRVI bullets up practicing for the trip. You will be comfortable with the rifle and load before you leave. good luck, I think mine is going to Zimbabwe in August after Zebra and Kudu. Cape Buffalo and maybe an elephant with the 550 Gibbs. regards, Rich NRA Life Member DRSS Proud CZ owner and shooter

Great work, I would love a FS cz...........................Give the woodleigh's a try they make bulklet weights in 250 gr, 286 gr and also 320 gr in softs and solids, and protected point styles. I have been using speer 270 gr bullets in mine, soft but there good for feral animals and thin skinned stuff, I intend to work a load up for the 250 gr woodleigh next lot.

Rich; Thanks for the infor. We must be thinking alike as I already ordered 100 rounds of Lapua brass and 2 boxes of 286 Nosler Partitions. I haven't heard of Graf & Sons, do you have a web address? I was just wondering where I could get some cheepie bullets for practice and it seems you have come up with the perfect solution. May I ask what PRVI stands for? Also what bullet would you use for Leopard, a seperate load or just stick with the one for the rest of the plains game? Thanks again and have a great New Year. Larry Sellers

Depending on where in Namibia you´ll be hunting you might want to load a light bullet for longer ranges. I hunted the fringe Kalahari with a 9.3x62 and ranges were often around 200 yards. If I ever hunt Namibua again it´ll be with the 7x64 or 8x68.

Larry, www.grafs.com PRVI is an austrian ammunition and components company that is about #4 in sales in Europe. They make a good bullet for the 9,3mm rifles, a 286gr that shoots very close to the Nosler with the same powder charge...but cost $19.95 per hundred. The only way to go, IMHO for practice. Mr Oehler's magic box reads just over 2500fps (ES of 14) with 57gr of H414 and 3-shot groups right at 1.25" at 100Y and just under 2" at 200Y. That would be enough for anything in my book! I have a FS as well, and 3-shot groups are what I shoot with big game rifles. hope this is of some aid... Rich NRA Life Member DRSS Proud CZ 9,3x62 owner and shooter
