holycowTwo of the three Stevens Mod 200s I just received (7-08, .270,and 7mmRM ) had greatly improved molded plastic stocks.
  • Seam lines were only 1/4 as pronounced as before.
  • Sharp edges along the checkering were almost gone.
  • The sharp spikes at the checkering points were reduced by at least 90%.
  • The magazine, follower and spring are tightly held in the stock and do not fall out when removing the barreled action.
  • There is a more substantial and better shaped recoil pad although it adds 1/4" to the LOP. That's in the wrong direction for my short stocky arms.
  • The ugly protrusion just forward, externally to the barrel channel is gone.

In all the utility, feel and appearance of these stocks has greatly improved. Someone at Savage is doing their homework. fishingroger beer

So you have the new centerfeed models. There's a catch 22 with these, as of yet you have NO aftermarket options to upgrade stocks.

BTW the 223 Stevens 200 I bought last month was still a staggered feed model

NOT if it uses the centerfeed magazine that bartuche describes. You see the magazine is now made into the stock on newer Savage-Stevens models

    dancingFuther developement!! shocker

Took the new Mod. 200, .270 barrel off with ease and replaced it with a Shaw 6.5x55. The amount of Black Max, or whatever, was about 1/8 the amount on the last terrible barrel swap. Paint stipper heater and Kroil did the job neatly. Will try it out Wed. beerroger

Thanks for the heads up, Krochus. For my use I should never need a different stock. waveroger
