I saw that I can get a Encore barrle in 7.62x39 and 300 Whisper as well, which one do you guys think would be a better short range deer and target gun. I know the 7.62x39 brass is avalibal any where but the .300 Whisper is also easy to make brass, I saw on the reloading page that the .300 Whisper has better groups but not as fast as the 7.62x39. I am going to load lighter bullets 150-120gr and have a shorter barrle 20-22" just looking for some ideas

The 7.62 x 39 is the superior cartridge and brass is way easier to deal with. The whisper as it's name implies is meant to shoot sub sonic with heavier bullets than the 7.62 x 39. I shoot 2 different 7.62 x 39's and have taken several deer and a mountiain lion with the cartridge. The bolt action is a small Sako built by Bill Wiseman, and the other a Colt AR. Accuracy with the Wiseman is better than 1 MOA, and velocities are an honest 2400 ft/sec's with 125 grain bullets, 2250 with 150's, 2000 no problem with 165's, and 1900 with 180's. I hope that helps fill in some potential for you. Member NRA, SCI- Life #358 28+ years now! DRSS, double owner-shooter since 1983, O/U .30-06 Browning Continental set.
