So has anyone played with a rifle in this chambering? I'm looking for a cartridge to fit my Yugo48 action with performance around .30-30, not to mention I have access to my friends large selection of 7mm bullets (he reloads for 7-30, 7-08, and 7mm mag).
Planning on a carbine style rifle for <200 yards with minimal recoil and muzzle blast.

Basically I'm asking where can I find quality dies, and reloading info? Oh and I'll need a barrel too!

For dies, I'd go to Redding, reloading info is in a number of manuals, and for barrels, I'd just send the whole shebang off to someone like Pac-Nor for barreling. HTH, Dutch.

I had a 21" #1 Shilen (CM) put on a 700 SA back in 1992 I believe. 1-9" twist. I consider it to be the perfect whitetail round to 225 yds or so. I've settled on the 120 Nosler BT and the 130 gr Speer - both are very accurate and perform very well on deer. The heavier bulets seems to over penetrate (i.e., not expand much), except for very close shots, so I would stick with the 120s and 130s. I've got a 1.5-5x scope and a nice piece of walnut - really a fun little round.

The 7BR is easy to load for, and mine is fully capable of 5 shot 1" groups at 200 yds. I like H335 with the bullets mentioned above.

I use RCBS FL dies, and have no complaints. Sierra has reloading data for the 7BR is a rifle, and most of the other catalogs have data at least for single shot pistol.

If I were to do it again, I'd go with a 20-22" SS matte pac-nor in a remington "mountain rifle" barrel contour. Remington brass lasts forever in this caliber - I've got cases I've reloaded literally dozens of times, and they are still going strong. Case trimming is needed very rarely as well.

Anyway, good luck with your project, it's a fun idea.
