We notice, in my country, that for driving hunt medium game, many bullets have poor expansion with the 9.3x62 and the stopping power of the caliber is questioned for this type of hunting. So the reputation of this caliber, for this type of hunting is not the best for many people. The people who likes 9.3x62 for drive hunting medium game, uses very soft bullets (RWS 286gr TMR, Sellier Bellot 286 gr TMR ...), and they feel very pleased. They feel the game fall in their trucks, even with poor shoot placement. We have to take into account that in this type of hunting, when we shoot running animals , it is not always possible to put the bullet in the rigth place. We have no data about 9.3 speer 270gr in this type of game. Has anybody experience how this bullet (9.3 speer 270gr SP) works on medium game (does, deers and medium boars). What is the minimum speed this bullet is going to expand in a reliable way in this type of game? Thank you in advance for your interest Ignacio Colomer

It is also a soft bullet. I shoot it in my 9.3 x 57 for that reason. I only get about 2000 fps at the muzzle and it still does very well on boar-sized game, all the way down to coyotes. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Maximum velocity is the problem, not minimum. Keep it under 2,300 and you should be fine. It's very accurate and not expensive. For more information on how to make it fail, do a search for Atkinson's posts on this bullet. Okie John "The 30-06 works. Period." --Finn Aagaard

This bullet has a purpose, it is ideal for pigs, deer and other vermin, Yeah I have read Ray's posts over the years and he's right it's soft and would not be any good for cape buff, but for feralpigs etc. it expands well and still gives decent penetration, I use this bullet in my cz lux 9.3 with good success on aussie game. I say go for it it will pefrom great and put game down for the count !!

This bullet is cheap and accurate. I shoot it on paper in 9,3x74R and 9,3x62. I just have not had very good luck with it in the field. Even at muzzle velocities of 2300 to 2500 fps it is too soft ... takes wild curves on impact and leaves chucks of itself it the wound canal. Does it kill? Yes. Is the wound track predictable? No. Does it do more damage to meat than desirable? Yes. Noslers open up even on smaller game like deer and pigs ... and hold up well enough to limit the damage to edible meat. I found that the Norma Oryx 9.3 bullet (285 grs. I believe) exands well.

Another vote for the 286 grains Partition. Several of my friends use them in their 9,3x62 and 9,3x74 for driven shooting and are very pleased with them.

I don't feel for feral pigs you need a nos partition etc. for feral pigs the speer will be fine and do an excellent job, as would the 250 gr Nos Ballistic Tip.
