SD gunslinger, I hear the same things about the Speer 270. I would stick with them for practice and deer, then use a premium 286 for elk, hogs and bears. I probably shoot over a thousand rounds at paper and plinking for every shot I fire at game, so the Speer 270 makes sense in that application. Okie John

A month or so ago I used the 250 gr Barnes X in the 9.3x62 to take game from the little springbuck at 180 yards to a very large eland at 20 yards with flawless performance. In between were two kudu with one shot (100 yards, long story...), bushbuck (one at 40 yards, another at 160), gemsbuck (50 yards), impala (120 yards), blesbuck (100 yards) and porcupine (200 yards). Excellent expansion and wound channels on the little stuff and excellent penetration on the big stuff. If you can get this bullet to shoot in your rifle, I highly recommend it.

YES, I know. Swift makes a 250 and a 300 grain A-frame bullet. Blaser makes a nice CDP 285 grain. Both NORMA and Lapua makes 285 grain bullets. In USA there is 285 grain nosler partition. Perhaps some of smaller custom makers has started to make premium bullets in 9,3.

I guess you can get The european make from their distributers or importers in USA. Sinlair, Huntingtons and Midway has a good selection of Lapua and Norma cases. I asked them about the 9,3X62 cases and components. The reply was "If there is a demand for it we will handle it" I suggest you 9,3 fans kick in the door [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Good luck

Cheers

Johan,

You are right. They just need us to be the squeeky wheel and maybe they will start offering more choices.

Okie John,

Option #4 would be, buy an inexpensive Rem 700 or other bolt gun in 30-06, 270, etc. Send to Dave Clements for a faster-twist rebarrel. It would cost more than the CZ in 9.3x62, I'll grant you, but PacNors and Liljas have a great reputation, and you'd have a really nice Whelen:
