I have a .356 in a Winchester model 94 BigBore AE.. or some moniker like that. With irons, it shoots factory 200 grain bullets about 3 inches at 100 yards, but a lot of that is the crummy trigger. I have ordered a different spring, and expect better accuracy.

All that aside, with a 1x3 scope on it, it is about as handy a rifle one can carry. It also has lots of ummmpht when handloaded with the Speer 220 grain flatnosed bullets above mentioned in this thread. I've killed 20 head or so of big game with my rifle... and haven't yet shot twice at any amongst them.

The .356 is a cartridge that should have never faded, considering the quick pointing rifles in which it was chambered.

I killed one mule deer doe with mine using the Speer 220 grain FP. It performed perfectly. Now that I have moved to Alaska, I look forward to getting more opportunities to use it. It is a great round. Mart
