Do to job changes , And a relapse of my teenage guitar obsession i have not done much shooting the last few years. So with deer season just a couple weeks off, i grabbed my pair of pre 64 .308s. (one is a featherweight mdl 70 one is a model 88 , grabbed a box of 50 reloads and headed for the coast mountain range about 30 miles west of Portland. I took a plastic pop bottle out to a stump about 80 yards off the road, fired 3 rounds , rested withe the bolt gun, and ran up to the target, and found 3 holes in about an inch. Put a paper plate on a stump a little closer 5 rounds off hand , from the lever clusterd about 3 inches. I think the model 70 will be my rifle for coast black tail. The load was a 150 grain speer over varget. I will use the 88 as back up. I might take 7 mag out if i get a chance and site her in, but the .308 is so damn fun !...tj3006 | ||
