I have a model 70 in 243win. and I dont know the answer to that one. They are being bought up at a rapid pace in my area.
I agree with you that their factory barrels are just as accurate as their So called "match bbl's.".and I've shot both. If you find a sourse of unfied model 70's let me know. I'd like to have one in either,30-06 or 308win.

The Model 70 will be back! They most likely will be marked "Japan / Miroku" like the A-bolts though!

a winchester is a winchester only if it's made in New Haven by the people who have been makeing them.

I love model 70s too !
I keep hoping for a miricale.
My thought was for Someone to start selling them
like this.
Factory actions, long, short bolt, face of your choice, SS or chrome molly, and then you order a specific caliber and barrel length.
And of corse there should be a choice of 2 or three stocks wood standard, wood featherweight and a synthetick or 2.
If you could order it your way like burger king, and get one for say 1000.00, It would be in my opinion a profitable venture...tj3006

If anyone needs one, Gander Mountain in Minnesota is currently having a "sale" on their remaining inventory with some pretty good prices. I just bought one yesterday for $499.00. (Minnesota has a 6.5 % sales tax though"

Lakeville Minnesota.

Not all are the same amount off though. The one I bought was a Featherweight (wood) .223 WSSM Controlled round feed. but they had a few in regular calibers as well, and a few in the WSM calibers too. they accept layaways for 90 days with 25% down.

I'm still a big fan of Winchester rifles.....but these VZ-24 actions properly decked out are, in some ways, superior!

The push feed M-70s are still one of the best bargains a going.....no one wants them and they're a very fine rifle!
