tjrobertsNice shot
Is that the entrance or the exit ? Right in the ear ! You could run a .270 ear to ear on my former mother in law and she would still be naggin !

sambarman338Don't think I'd ever heard Winchester made such a thing, so it sounds like a very collectable rifle. Is it hand-chequered or had Winchester got past the waffle iron by 1968?

DuckearI remember an entire collection of them being for sale or at auction in the last few years.
Sadly, made during the push feed years.

N E 450 No2I have handled a few of those Winchesters over the years. I always thought they should have been more popular.
I like short barreled full stocked rifles, I had a couple of Steyr Mannlichers in 308, and a full stock Blaser K 95, also in 308.

Idaho SharpshooterI am not big on the .270, more of an Elmer Keith fan than JackO.
That said, I could make room in my safe for that rifle...
Good Shooting!

LJSI see them advertised from time to time for $1500 and up. I have seen 06 and 270 but believe they were also made in 308. A pretty heavy gun if I remember correctly.

joesterI bought one in .30/06 in a Bozeman MT gunstore a few years back. Its one accurate rifle. Maybe I'll take it out for the PA buck opener...

KurtCThey were only made for about 3 years. The M70 was not very popular in the post-64 years ane this model was no different.

Idaho SharpshooterYou've resurrected the Mannlicher "virus" in me. It's as deadly as Ebola, but the outcome is much to be preferred...
I've been scheming what to do with this lovely early post-war Yugo commercial action I've had sitting on my desk for about a year now.
KDA55 had a Canjar single set for a Mauser in the classifieds I bought two weeks ago.
It's got a spoonbill handle, the bluing is perfect, and it has this really neat side swing floor plate release lever.
What to build? I think a "Mountain Rifle", with a short barrel? 358 Win?
thanks for this post, I think...

MtWoodsonA 21" fast handling full-stock 30-06 sounded too good to pass, so I picked up a Western Field 30-06 Mauser style Mannlicher, built by Heym. It too has the butter-knife bolt and side swing floor plate release Rich mentioned. It may make my 30-06 7600 Carbine a little underutilized.
