| Try RL-15 with the 286 gr. Noslers..I get 2520 FPS and almost 2400 with the 320 gr. Woodleigh albiet in a 26" barrel...Also H414 is a great powder in the 9.3x62, but you must work up your own loads with H414 as most data for some reason is way light with this powder in several calibers that I have used it in... |

| smlekid....what kind of groups are you getting with the varget..??
Do you mind sharing the varget data....Starting and max loads..??
I have a can of Varget I've used for 100 grain bullets in my .260 Rem pistol, but I haven't any data on it for the 9.3 x 62.... |

| I've been getting 2420 fps with 57.0 gr of RL-15 and 286 gr Nosler Partitions in Norma cases pretty consistently. Have been using up old Winchester large rifle (WLR) primers. Rifle is a CZ 550 American with a 24" bbl. This load has the lowest extreme spread of any load I've ever shot over a Pact chrono ... 4.4 fps.
I grow to think that last 2" of barrel may be pretty important for the 9.3x62. |

| Ray I would love to try H414 and RL15 bit in Oz it is hard to find most gunshops only stock Winchester and ADI ( I think ADI powder is some of the best made anywhere) also the price is a lot dearer than the local product I used to like Alliant Greendot in my shot gun but it disappeared for a while it is available again but you can buy a lot of ADI for the same money!!!! Pygmy the starting loads are 54-58 with 250-258 gr bullets 55-59 with 270gr bullet (this is what the book says!!) 55-59 with 286gr bullet 54-57 with 293gr bullet please as always work up with care the accuracy is ok the nosler b/tips shoot around 1.5" the most accurate combination in my gun has been 60gr of varget with 232gr norma vulkan bullets this loads shoot well under the 1" mark the best 5 shot group has been 5/8" to be getting 2400 from only 55gr with 286gr bullets did have me surprised I will have to load some up and see what i can get out of them I sometimes wonder about the accuracy of chronographs I also fired some 357mag rounds over it to see if I was making power factor 4.9 gr of ADI AP50N (international clays) with a 158swc lead bullet I was getting 960fps out of a model 28 S&W with 6" a barrel so at least that load did as the book said it should so i guess the chrony was close ? |

| Slingster, I am shooting 286 partitions with 56 grains of 4895 in my blaser and ave 2328 fps. It shoots all shots touching, it is the first and only load I've used. Great combo, going to Namibia in June! Dan |

Dan:
With 56 grains I was getting 2260 fps average and .38" groups at 50 yards, but I wanted a bit more velocity. Isn't it amazing how consistent these Blasers are? Nearly identical results with two different barrels. I'm taking mine against sable in May. Good luck to you!
Aleko:
My friend tested Sellier & Belliot and, I think, Norma 286-grain loads out of his 60cm Husqvarna and was getting just over 2000 fps like you got with the Lapua ammo. Wonder why they load it down so much? |

| I get 2420fps with the 286 Nosler and 59 grains of RL15 in Grafs cases. other than that we are using identical rifles and loads. Just goes to show you that they're all different, but we already knew that. |

| Slingster--in African Rifles & Cartridges, Taylor mentions two loads for the 9.3x62, the original 286 @ about 2,100 and a later 286 at about 2,400. The faster load was a post-WW I development and Taylor didn't like it. He felt the 9.3x62 was fine as it stood, and was irritated that the new load didn't shoot to the sights on older guns. I've tried a couple of boxes of the S&B stuff. In the 22" barrel of my CZ 550 (I had it cut), it did about 2,100 fps. Hope this helps, Okie John. |

| I didn't mention the number of grains in my load that nets me 2520 FPS with the 286 gr. Nosler as I was afraid it might be too hot for some...but its been mentioned alreadys so I will tell you it 59 grs. or RL-15, Fed.210 primers in my Lothar Walther 26" barrel...My chronograph is checked from time to time so I feel that is an accurate reading and I have shot this load across the chronograph quit a few times under varing temps I suppose...Its always in the high 2400s or a bit over 2500 for a total average of the above..which pretty well goes along with the readings of the shorter barrels menitoned, apparantly the 9.3x62 gets a lot from a long barrel..I have always suspected that based on the number of guns in that caliber I have owned.. |

Because they are afraid someone will shoot it in a 1906 rifle made by Otto Bock himself (or at least a 1910 rifle by J.P. Sauer). |

270 gr speer 56 gr of AR2208 Lapua case wlr primer.

| HI,
To anyone here that shoots a 9.3X62, I am seriously considering of having my Browning M95 lever 3006 converted into a 9.3X62. And I was wondering how accurate is this CAL compared to others?. Also have anyone here work with Barns-X 286 grain in this round?,Kev |

| HI,
SLINGSTER, that is more than enough, what is your set up ,rifle, scope,I plan on using this round in my Browning 95 lever. I will not have a scope will use a peep sight, most likely Brockmans ghost ring and front post.IMR4895 sounds like a great powder for the 9.3X62, I hear more about REL15,I will look into IMR more,Thanks,Kev |
