Here is one on gunbroker. Somebody buy it before I get in trouble,

It has been auctioned once before and got no bids at $780.

I have the high bid for now.

What can you tell me about numbers manufactured in this caliber? I was under the impression that Winchester normally did not chamber Remington new chamberings until on the market for some time.

I AM A BAD BOY. Looks like I have a new addition. He He. I just bought my Darling Wife a new stove but I don't think that will count towards the rifle since I got it before I told her about the rifle. I better get the stove hooked up to smooth things out. I'll tell her about the rifle while she is checking out her new stove. Big Grin

Buckeyeshooter,
Winchester chambered all the RUMS in there custom rifles. They chambered the 300 rum in a blued classic synthetic , a blued classic walnut and a stainless classic synthetic.

The blued synthetics I have seen all have a black shadow barrel on them. Which reminds me that the first winchesters that I ever saw in 300 RUM where in the black shadow push feed.

Winchester doesn't make any rifles anymore.

Hi RMiller,

Trust me on this; go ahead and get the rifle.

It is ideal for conversion to 404 Jeffreys, or any of the myriad of cartridges based on same.

Even if you don't build one up, some one (maybe me) will be knocking at your door in a year or two.

lawndart beat me to it. I bought one couple years back to build my .404jeffery on. Turned out great. That's not a bad price either.

Thanks guys. It is not a bad price. Those brown precision stocks are not cheap.
Now I will have three of them. One stainless, two blued. I want to put that Brown precision stock on the stainless rifle. I have been thinking about setting one up in a larger cartridge but I need a bigger gun less than I needed another 300 ultra. Big Grin

I don't see it. I found one non-factory Winchester M70 300RUM w/ 0-bids and a buy now for $2,900.

Where is it?

The auction is over. I won it. It is a mod 70 classic blued walnut with a glass bedded brown precision stock.

I also see the link to it has been deleted from my origonal post.

That is O.K. this has been a fun thread.

Plus I just let the cat out of the bag and lived to tell the tale.

Now I am going fishing for a couple days and I will have to see what new stuff the misses gets while I was away. Eeker

about 18 months ago, they had 3 or 4 down at the local BiMart store for like $359.00.....

They didn't sell too well for Winchester...

All of them were bought by those that just wanted the actions for that price....

I found a rare Winchester in 300 Ultra Mag. It is one that was comissioned by Winchester with a Carbon wrapped barrel. It is well balanced and I don't know if I want to shoot it at all as I think less than 25 were made.

Yes the 300 ultra also came in four or five custom shop models. I failed to mention those.

The lowest priced one was 2500 I believe.

All of the RUMS were available in a few of the different custom shop model 70's.
