Found an orphan today that needed a good home,
I'm trying to decide if I'm going to be a foster parent or adopt.

Rem M700 BDL
B&C Stock
.35 Whelen

I've already got a rifle in this chambering and don't know if I need another but it weighs 7.07 lbs according to my fish scale as you see it. She could use a good bedding job into that stock. I just couldn't stand to see this rifle sit in the consignment corner anymore.

That looks like one of the older foam B&C stock. Lighter then the newer plastic ones.

I can't find it in B&C's current catalog so it must be old. Seems functional, but I can't say I like the sling mounts. Do you know anything about it?

Harsh as it may seem, we will know then if Junior makes the team.

Yep, if she doesn't show potential down the road she'll go. Just got to pick up some mounts tomorrow, and I've got a 3.5-10 VXIII that will work for now. Would prefer a 1.75-6 or 2.5-8 for this rifle though.

Sweet!

How much does it weigh?

The calibre and configuration seem just right for carrying between the hands for woodland stalking.

Nice rifle, it ought to pack quite a wallop! Big Grin

For that rifle and the use I would have in mind for it, I think I'd want some sort of small, light fixed power scope on board. I've used a fixed 7 for a good while and all over the world on a 30.06, apart from long range varminting and short range drive hunting it's been ideal.

7.07 lbs as seen, I'll weight it once I get the scope on it and loaded.

I managed to put a set of Leupold Weaver bases and PRW rings on today along with a 3.5-10 VXIII scope today. Loaded up five rounds of factory ammunition in the mag. Weighed right at 8.66 lbs all up. I think this rifle should carry pretty well.

Chad, Don't scope that elk rifle! It's the perfect rifle for the ranges you and I watched elk this year even with iron sights.

Dark Timber Elk Rifle.

I would use it and never look back.

Only change would be a ghost ring rear.

Good looking gun even though I don't like synthetic stocks. Hope it makes the A Team. tu2 beer

Man Ted if I could shoot that good with irons I'd make old Matthew Quigley look like an amateur! Big Grin

I think it will probably make the A-Team, might just have to nickname this one B.A. for fun. Snellstrom helped me get it sighted in yesterday and with factory 200 grain ammunition it printed a sub 1" group. Too bad it took a lot of shooting to get it on paper there might have been a couple sub 1" groups if we had got it there faster.
