Bellmont Ammunition in Wanganui have a clearance sale of 9.3 cal 285 gr Lapua Mega bullets. Very good hunting bullets - as good as Norma and Woodleigh according to a bullet test conducted by a guy in Australia some years ago (I was involved in that in a small way). Belmont Ammunition Tel: +64 6 344 6741 Fax: +64 6 34 44829 brett@ordnance.co.nz It is being cleared for NZ$40 per 100!! Normally they are about NZ$150+ per packet. I just ordered 4 packed and that should last me as long as I am likely to shoot that caliber. They have around 30 packets still in stock. The guy told me that they have sold none in 18 months! US & Canada should be able to get bulk bullets from Reloading International. The 285gr Lapuas are US$74 as packet. So the NZ price is less than half! The US Hornady cost is only US$30 for 50 count - 285gr. The Norma Alaskan & Oryx 286gr are only US$40 & $44 Here in NZ normally we pay double the US rate. So it is a huge bonus to get these bullets so cheap. One Kiwi has already picked up on this lead "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

I have purchased several items over the last several years. Things from magazines to wool to knives. The shipping on a few pounds of bullets from NZ to the US wouldn't be too much - certainly not enough to offset the significant discount in price.

Unfortunately, Reloading International still lists them for $74, with the added bad news of a note that says they are backordered! NRA Endowment Life member CZ 550 American 9.3 X 62 Mauser/ Leupold VX-3 2.5-8 x 36 CZ 550 Safari Classic .458 Lott

The Norma bullets may be 50 count per pack and so they are expensive. Lapua is 100 count. Yes Ray, Privi Partizan is very cheap in the US and they are ok bullets for North American game unless you hit big bones on Moose etc. The Australian bullet test I mentioned showed Privi to be a bit brittle. I think I sent you the articles, bullet test report, loads etc. a couple of years ago. The Lapua Megas are not bonded but performed very similar to the Woodleighs and Norma Oryx. My Simson 9.3X62 with octagon to round barrel with full length rib shoots all 286 gr bullets into a 2 inch group. The 250 TSX and Balistic Tip (now Accubond) shoot an inch higher and the 320 gr Woodleigh shoots 6 inches lower. Vertically straight! "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."

The bullets arrived yesterday! Now they are in blue plastic boxes like the Barnes, but they are 100 count! "When the wind stops....start rowing. When the wind starts, get the sail up quick."
