The more I shoot my new .300 WSM the more I like it. I've only shot 180 grain MRX bullets out of it, but it's extremely accurate. I was wondering though, from those who have shot them, if the 130 grain TTSX bullets do any good out of this cartridge? I can't vouch for the 130's, but the 150 gr. TTSX's and the 165 gr. TSX's shoot well in my 300 WSM Bob 150 gr. TTSX-300 WSM 165 gr. TSX-300 WSM There is room for all of God's creatures....right next to the mashed potatoes. http://texaspredatorposse.ipbhost.com/

Dthfrmby, I do not have direct experience with 130 gr. bullets in the 300 WSM. However having said that I have 30+ kills with my favorite 300 WSM, using 150 gr bullets. A couple thoughts. It is my understanding that the 300 WSM was designed for bullets 150 gr. and up. Velocity of 130 gr. bullets out of a WSM, unless its downloaded would most likely preclude using any cup and core, standard bullet. Chances are you would be launching a 130 grainer at between 3400 and 3550 fps. That velocity at less than a couple hundred yards is going to result in a lot of blood shot meat. If you are paper punching at short range, maybe no problem. Long range it would seem a heavier bullet with better sectional density would be better on both game and targets. Best GWB

+1. The 130s would launch faster and give you a flatter trajectory initially. But the heavier bullets will "catch up" about the time it starts to really matter. LWD

I just noticed Barnes is making factory ammunition for this caliber with the 165 grain TTSX bullet. Probably is a better bet. "Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars."

Remember gents, with Barnes you normally "step down" 1 common weight size to make up for the added length of a pure copper bullet. Going by that theory, these 130 TTSX should be about the same length as a C&C 150gr. Federal loads it at 3500fps, very fast. In 300 Wby, the same bullet is only going 150fps faster, and the Win Mag is right at 3500 as well. If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!
