Does anybody shoot the $20 per 20 box 285 gr Privi ammo from Graf? I am just before buying a 9.3 CZ and wanted some practice and hog hunting ammo and was curious how accurate it was or any problems with it. I know that everybody touts Norma brass to stuff your self but is the Prizi brass worth keeping. I also saw a good price? at $41.95 on some Norma 230? something gr'ers on the Natchez site the other nite...are they useful for anything except to practice with? White Tails & Hogs?

Pretty sure its PPU ammunition, which I use heavily in my 7.62x54R and 22Hornet. No issues with the brass, seems to be good quality stuff, there may be a green primer sealer in the pockets which is a pain to get off your bolt face when you shoot it. Otherwise good for the price.

I don't have any experience with the 9.3, however in 30-06 PPU ammo has proved to be very accurate 3 shot 1/2 inch groups at 100yds. In 7x57 it's accurate, 1 1/4 inch at 100yds but the round nosed bullet is very soft. A pig I shot in the head with the 7x57 split the head in two and did not penetrate very much, there was complete core separation the base of the bullet was like a ragged washer with no lead attached. If you are going to use 9,3 on something big I recommend you test it for penetration. You will want better performance than I have experienced. Lets hope the soft bullet is only in the 7mm.
Just my two cents worth.

oldun,
In 22 Hornet penetration of the 45grSP was also pretty poor. Didn't expect much but definately less than a 45gr Sierra "Hornet" projectile. Haven't used the 7.62x54R on game.

I can't comment on the factory ammo, but a friend and I have been using the Graf brand brass and the Prvi bullets in our 9.3x62 CZ 550 rifles. The brass seems to be pretty decent stuff. We have both been very pleased with the accuracy of the Prvi 285gr 9.3 bullets; especially considering their price (at Graf's). With our handloads (we use the same load) my friend's rifle is doing five shot groups just under an inch (100 yds) while mine is doing around 1.25 inches. (I think he's a better shot than I am!)

Neither of us have hunted anything with the Prvi bullets so I can't comment on how they might perform on game. I think they should probably work fine on feral hogs here in Texas. We're both going to South Africa in August but we'll be using Woodleigh bullets in our 9.3s for the hunting there. But the Prvi bullets make an excellent and affordable bullet for practice.

I posted this question on the European Hunting board a while back. You might search for it or post it again under your name. Okie John
