Has anyone ever imported a sako in say a 9.3x62, I know they make them!

I had 9.3x62 Sakos backed when Stoeger was the importer. Beretta USA wants nothing to do with the metrics, except for the 6.5x55. I'd love to have a Bavarian in either 7x64 or 9,3x62.

I know before Beretta got involved that Stoeger was the importer for North America.

Me, too!

I currently have AVs in 6.5x55, 7x64 and 9.3x62. The 6.5x55 is fairly hard to find, the 7x64 is harder to find and the 9.3x62 is nearly impossible.

The AV actions tend to be very hard and straight. If you have one single-point cleaned up of the threads, the receiver ring trued and faced and the bolt lugs re-seated (only if needed); well, yopu have the basis of a GRET switch barrel system. A 30-06 could have all three of Dr. Lou's barrels made out of Bartlein or Krieger barrel steel. The bolt face will accomodate from 7x64B up to 9,3x62. You can even go with a shorter barrel on the 9,3x62, and longer barrels on the others to squeeze a bit more velocity with decreased recoil!

This one started out life as a 30-06, but a trip to the doctor and .......

Shoots pretty good too

60 gr varget,250 gr. accubond, +/- 2600 fps

makes a pretty fair impression on the game I shoot also. Shot one hog and one deer with it so far. Both were bang, flop and DRT.

I had a contact in the industry make a call to a friend at Beretta USA. An executive level friend. He could not secure a 62 for me.

My contact immediately offered to import one on his company's FFL, but I didn't want to call that chip in yet.

Dr. Lou,

I'd forgot about that. As you may recall, Handwerk, who mainly posts on 24hr. as I recall sold this to me.
Oh well, I do take care of it, keep it on a strict diet of accubonds, and fondle it regularly. Now that you remind me, if it ever decides to leave home, I'll PM you.

Wookie, that's a fine job there, and not too shabby in the shooting dept. I have a couple of the 3 x 9 vari-x IIc 's I've picked up at very attractive prices. Although I like smaller objectives, I find the IIc's to be good scopes.
