Anyone loading Barnes's 7mm banded solids in any caliber?

I'm planning on loading some for my son's 7mm-08 for predator hunting

I've loaded the 100 gr variant in a 7mm/08. Accuracy was as good as anything, and they worked just dandy on coyote.

-- Husky, it must not have been listed in the reloading manual I was looking at nilly

-- Juggernaut, unfortunitely, they don't offer the 100 or 120 gr solids anymore,

what powder & charge did you use? Thanx in advance

Across the board, IMR 4350 was my go-to powder in that rifle. 50 gr gave me in the neighborhood of 3100 fps and excellent accuracy.

Wouldn't s FMJ (can you get them in 7mm?) or match bullet perform the same and be cheaper and more readily available?

Haven't seen a FMJ for 7mm and match bullets leave too big a hole in the fur

Can't comment on the 7mm, but in my .257Bob the Barnes solids put three into 3/4" at 100 yards. I think they are fully capable of sub 1/2" accuracy in better hands.

Robert

Negative.

The Barnes Banded Solids have a big, wide FLAT meplat.

It makes a significant difference in trauma and energy transfer. Like a WFN handgun boolit.

Barnes make a RN solid also, but the banded solids are FN based on my .375 - 270 gr samples.

Steffen-9.3

Speed kils but also makes big holes when you are shooting predators and want to save the fur

I'll have to try and find osmeone who sells Norma's full line, Midaway doesn't list the .284 FMJ

See the 284150FN. As a matter of interest. European 7mm calibers are mostly .285" and not .284". Use the appropriate bullets.
