Great Rifle, Not sure if yours is a wood stocked or syn. stocked but recoil is not bad.
They may call these featherweights but at 7.5lbs
naked they really are not that light.

Yup....darn nice rifles....but the term featherweight is somewhat misleading.

I certainly wouldn't worry about recoil....even my .30-06 FWT isn't bad!

Recoil is not bad. I have a M70 Featherweight in 300 WSM. It is a New Haven model with the old thin red recoil pad. The newer models come with a decelerator pad. That would moderate the recoil even more. I will say the one I have is my most accurate hunting rifle. I have adjusted and honed the trigger and pillar bedded the stock. I don't need the 300 WSM, but I can't bear selling it. It's a beautiful and accurate rifle. If I was looking to buy another rifle, the M70 Fwt would be my first choice in the calibers offered.

I have one of the compact classics, which weighs a bit less than the featherweight.
Mine is a .308. Recoil is no problem. Just a little push is all.

I've had two Mod70 Featherweights in .270. The first was blue/wood. Pretty sweet rifle..killed lots of deer. Shot nicely. Early 90's (maybe93?) saw it in S/S composite and just had to have it so traded one for the other. Mistake. This barrel gave lousy accuracy and I felt it kicked like a mule. Had the gun rebarreled to 6.5Swede and now love the gun. It could be a very different story with .308, probably very desirable.
