Whenever I cycle a round through my model 14, there is excessive resistance felt on the down stroke and the ejected case will have multiple scratches from top to bottom. Some cases are damaged worse than others, and almost all are damaged bad enough that they cannot be re-loaded. I have completely taken the rifle down and gave it a good cleaning. I need some help, what is my next step? Thanks in advance! If at first you don't succeed...RELOAD!

Check out the chamber mouth, that is probably where the scratching is coming from and its an easy fix...A good gunsmith is the way to solve the problem as he can do a hands on inspection..All we can do here is speculate. I think I will take your advice and find a gunsmith. I just thought it would be something simple that I hadn't thought of. The cartridge is already scratched before it even gets to the chamber, the action is completely smooth while chambering and ejecting. Must be something going on when the round is being pulled from the magazine tube. If at first you don't succeed...RELOAD!
