Hey, my buddy just handed me a Ruger in 300 rsaum that he picked up for his son so can have his 300win back. Along with dies, brass and a box of 180 gr Hornaday btsp, and Rem 91/2 primers.
Could someone here please share a load for this. I've got very little time as opening day is the 25th. Thanks in advance thumb

There's good data at the Hodgdon site in the "Data" section. My best accuracy with 180gr (Speer GS) was with a reasonable load of Varget, but best velocity seems to be with IMR 4831 SC, RL 17 or MagPro.

My .300 SAUM is a Remington M7 and I'm using different components; my 7mm SAUM is a Ruger 77 and that seems happy with the 4831.

I'm at home now and dug up my records. Once again, my .300 is a Remington M7 which may or may not make a difference.

I tried H414 with a 180 gr Speer GS for decent but not great accuracy.

IMR 4895 and 150 gr Speer GS was a failure.
Varget and 150 gr Speer GS was mediocre.

Varget and 165 Hornady Interbond was mediocre.

The winner ended up being Varget with the 180 gr Speer GS. Based on the Hodgdon site, I estimate my velocity at about 2750 fps, but that's purely a guess. Other listed loads are over 2900 fps.

Hey Ol Bull,

I'll check when I get home tonight as I loaded a bunch up for my dad's rifle and he used it on Kudu, Wildebeest, Impala and Warthog with one-shot success in Zimbabwe just a few weeks ago.

He also has taken a whitetail deer every year with it since I gave it to him for our Elk hunt in 2004.

Will post later,
Paul

Ramshot Hunter 62grains
H4350 60grains
Alliant Reloder 19 63 grains

all give about 2,880fps over the Oehler 35P and good accuracy from his Remington 700Ti in 300SAUM

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks guys, this will help alot. Fortunatly, were goin to leave cody shootin dads 300Win since he's been shootin it for 4 years now. We'll work on the saum in the spring. No need to be goin afield with a gun he hasn't had plenty of practice with. And we just don't have enough time. Opening day is the 25th for us. Thanks again guys. I'll keep your loads and try them in the spring. Smiler And good luck to you all this season. thumb

I love the .300 RSAUM. I have 5 of them, all accurate, all shoot 200 gr. bullets best. For hunting 200 gr. Grand Slams or 210 gr. hunting Bergers are great. Give the heavy bullets a try. I use H4831sc........Tom
