I found some data for 9.3x62 on realguns.com. The Reloader 17 powder used is slower than Reloader 15, and the velocities are high. Is this good data, in your opinion?

Yes. I have achieved the results shown for some of the other loads shown. Just work up. I am sure they are loading to higher than SAAMI/CIP pressures (to pressures no different than the 270 Win and many others use) to get those velicities which is perfectly safe in a Ruger as it is in my FN's.

As expected, RL-17 is better with the heavier bullets, because of it's slower burning rate. Alliant's new Power Pro 2000-MR is between RL-15 and RL-17 in burning rate, and does a great job with the 9.3 Mauser.

I don't have any experience with the 9.3x62, but I get the best velocity and most accurate loads with RL19 on my 338-06.

By the looks of the data at the link you posted it looks like RL-17 and Ramshot Big Game are nearly inter-changeable.
The tech at Alliant told me that if I have starting load data for IMR 4350 then I can use that for Reloader 17.
I've done this safely with a couple cartridges not with 9.3x62 however.
My favorite powder for the 9.3x62 is by far Ramshot Big Game. Excellent velocity from my short barreled 9.3 and extremely good accuracy.
My loads are 62.5 grains for 286 grain bullets and 64 grains for 270 grain bullets. I've loaded 286 grain bullets in excess of 64 grains of Ramshot Big Game but the accuracy fell off for my rifle a bit.
My rifle is a 20" ultra light barreled Mauser 98 with a 2-7 Nikon scope on it. Whole rifle with scope and sights with detachable rings weighs 7 pounds 12 ounces.
I just swapped a Leupold 2.5-8 onto it the other day but haven't shot that scope much.
Good luck with yours.

This is new information for me. I have been gathering 9.3X62 load info for over 10 years and have a lot of research info including bullet tests that I was involved with. I have shared this info with other here on AR.

The Realguns.com data for Varget is 1 grain more than my pet load. The velocity for the 320 gr Woodleigh is about 40 fps more than I get. However, my loads are a bit above the Eurpean standards but well below the 65000 PSI pressure level of a sound 98 Mauser action.

John Barsness developed some loads with Ramshot and got close to 2500 FPS with 286 gr bullets. This was publiched in Rifle / Hanloader many years ago.

I have access to Re17 and may just try some loads to see what I get.

Thanks for the replies. I thought that 2500 fps with 286 bullets was either optimistic or overpressure. I am not crazy about high velocity, but if you can get a little more, why not? I have some RL17 and will try it. . . .

Have not seen that data before. Have always used RL-15 w the Nosler 286 gr NP and get 2425 in two 24" rifles w no pressure sign at all.

Not likely to change the load for 75 fps when my field experience with this load has been so good in the field.
