Guys I'm new to the forum. But, it looks like there is wealth of information/knowledge here. So, I have a question and I would like your opinions and experiences. I've been shooting a 300 Win Mag exclusively for the last 7-8 years (2 different guns). My first was a Win. Mod 70 Supergrade. It was very finicky gun and I settled on loading a 165 gr NBT that shot very well in it. However, I wasn't crazy a bout the feel of the rifle so I only shot it for 2 years and traded it for a Remington Fluted Stainless Sendero. Due to time constraints, I bought factory Remington Premier ammo in 180 gr NBT. It shot clover leafs at 100 yds so I never developed a handload for this gun and have shot those loads up until this year. Over the last several years (with 180 NBT) the gun has probably killed 40-50 deer and maybe 1.5X to double that many hogs. During that time, I was never really crazy about the bullet penetration and weight retention I got out of the 180 NBT. It did incredible amounts of damage and usually exited on whitetail size game. However, many times I hade multiple small exit wounds f rom bullet frags. Or in the case of large hogs, no exit at all. And generally speaking, entrance side damage was worse than exit. This year I switched to the Rem. Premier in 180 gr Sirocco, hoping to achieve similar quick expansion with better weight retention and more consistent exits. The rub being, my gun is not crazy about the factory load. Will only group 1.5"-1.75" groups at 100 yds. Now I know that is realistic killing accuracy, but, I'm anal about it. Now I know I can reload the Sirrocos and probably acheive my goal. However, if I can find a factory load that will do it, I'd prefer not to. (not my loading equipment, time consuming, other various reasons). My question is, do you know of any other factory loads available that might have bullets with similar performance characteristics to the Sirroco? I would like to shoot something in a 165-180 gr. that would be a good all-around bullet. My understanding is the Hornady SST is similar to the NBT. But, how would the Interbond compare to the Sirroco? What about the Accu-bond? Any and all comments would be appreciated. What are your opinions and experiences. I'm trying to find a good "all-around" round. If I can't come up with a suitable factory round I will probably just reload the Sirrocos when I get time.

I really want something that will expand a bit faster than the partition. Several guys I know have had the "pencil in, pencil out" problem with the partition. Ideally, I'm looking for a factory load. Otherwise, I'll just load the Sirroco.

Honestly, the best bullet I've ever put thru my .300 was a 200 grain partition. I've never seen anything kill that fast. I'd have to check the load data next time I'm visiting my Dad, but it was very powerful and wonderfully accurate! Really impressed deer, black bear, and caribou.

I think you are leapfrogging two very good factory deer loads for the fancy bullets. My 300 Win mag shoots tight groups and gives better terminal performance than the 180 NBT usin either The Reminton 180 PSPCl or Winchester's Power point in the same weight. You ought to try em to see if they suit you.

You might want to see if you can get your hands on some 180 grn Accubonds in factory loads. Good Luck! Reloader
