I have a Kimber Classic 8400 in 30-06 with Walnut stock.
It is a great rifle but a little heavy for my use.
This is my dedicated red deer rifle which see a lot of low light use and it`s rigged with a Zeiss Victory scope, 3-12x56.

Total weight with sling and 4 in the magazine is 9,9 lbs.
I can cope with that, but some of the terrain is steep hills, so lessen the weight a bit would be nice.

Where can I get a lightweight stock, and wich do you recommend?
(Prefereably from a company that can send overseas.)

MPI makes a light one for the Kimber.

You might want to consider just getting a 84L Montana. There's about a pound and a half to be gained there, and half a pound to be lost on the scope if you wanted. After that its fighting for ounces.

Arild, if you haven't already done so, I would consider Dogleg's suggestion about changing to an 84L.

Probably wouldn't cost any more than the stock swap and would very likely save more weight.

I have two 84Ls in 30.06 and they are both an ounce or two under 5.5 lbs bare. If you want to chase some ounces/grams, the Talley Lightweight mounts are well worth looking at. A 50mm objective Zeiss on an 84L needs Mediums. The same scope went on a WSM 8400 (shorter action than your 8400) with extra lows, because of the fatter action ring and different barrel profile. Don't know about the 56mm Zeiss.

Best wishes with project.I carried a 9.5lb all up rifle in New Zealand on one trip - never again !!!!!!!

Been looking over the prices at MPI, and with freight and VAT, I can just as well look around for another rifle.

I had a Kimber Montana in 308 Win but sold it to finance another project....
They are as rear as hens teeth here, and new ones are on order (9 to 12 months).

Thing is, this Classic 8400 is a tack driver and smooth as silk, so I guess I keep it the way it is until something else (and lighter) pops up.
