Caliber being the same, is a heavier weight Partition constructed more heavily than a lighter weight one?

Thinking about using the 180gr NP in my 300 H&H for whitetail. Would it be to sturdy of a bullet?

If nothing else, the extra weight of the 180 grain says something must be heavier than the 150. After all, they are the same diameter.

What is heavier? I don't know.

Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times.

Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.

perry,

The 180NP is not too tough for whitetails but the 150NP is all you'll need. I would expect you'll get full penetration on TX whitetails with either bullet.

thanks Mark.
I've got it sighted in with the 180's so I figured I just keep with it.
So reliable expansion will not be an issue at hunting distances, under 300 yards?

no.
the partitions are designed to open easily in the front.
the partition stops the expansion and the rear retains the weight.

going from one weight to the other just changes the length of the bullet and the velocity the rifle will launch them.

Ive used both for Texas whitetail, and the 180 gr. Nosler partition is the finest all around bullet for anything Ive used in NA and sure held up in Africa..The 150 is more destructive and ruins a lot of meat, so I don't use it, both work on deer, on elk, moose bear I like the 180, and better yet the 200 gr. The 200 gr. Accubonds work on whitetail just fine with a 25 yard run about like you come to expect with whitetail and most decent calibers..Ive used these bullets in the 300 H&H, 300 win. mag, and mostly in my 30-06..they all work.

ONe thing I like about a Nosler partitions and accubonds, is they "expand quickly" in any weight and still manage penetrate great and usually give a good exit hole. Most premium bullets expand rather slow to start with and some only on larger animals as they are designed to do so..
