I got this once, but the computer on which it was stored crashed. Thanks advance, probably RayA. Others too. I believe there was a model 1, 2, and 3. in 7x57? can someone give me the bullet weights these were regulated for, and standard barrel lengths? Also were all barrels a standard profile/weight. Thanks again, capt david' "It's not how hard you hit 'em, it's where you hit 'em." The 30-06 will, with the right bullet, successfully take any game animal in North America up to 300yds. Hey Cap All of the above!! most 7x57s are 1x9 twist and that seems to handle all weights has been my experience...I usually load up some 130 Speer BTSP or FB for deer as the are awesome killers; I load up 160s and 175s for elk and whatever else is out there..I like Woodleighs, GS Customs (monolithics); Nosler 140 and 160 Accubonds and partitions..Sierras are always accurate..About any 175...Ive never found a 7x57 that was picky about loads or powder..For Powder I like H414 loaded beyond book max, and RL-19 likewise. With the 7x57 most book loads are weak and overly mild and about as potent as a 30-30, and for good reason, law suits because some load book loads in mod. 95, 96, and single shot rolling blocks..A good bolt action 7x57 or 275 Rigby will handle up to 55,000 to 60,000 PSIs, some times a bit more..So its my choice to load my own to those pressures, goint one grain at a time to later at 1/2 gr. at a time to full max then back off a grain or two, wherever best accuracy is and no serious pressure signs..It then pretty close to the 270, 280 and 30-06 etc..Some are satisfied with book loads and are perionoid with stouter loads than book max...Some loading books explain this and tell you they are weak loads and why.. Most of my 7x57s have a 30-06 magazine, and a matching chamber and are referred to as long throated guns..Those guns get pretty close to a 7x57 Ackley IMP..I hate to quote loads as it freaks out some experts.. Additionally most all military Mausers had a 1x9 twist for the 173 and 175 gr. full metal jacketed bullets and every one Ive shot was pretty accurate with the std. irons and close to dead on at 100 yards..Barrel lengths varied but most were 23.5" but in MM's...some were 29 inches again in MM's...Im not sure where you came up with mod. 1.2,3 and 4, that's a new one on me..Would be interesting to pin that down to a certain Mauser..Maybe Alf can help on that.
