I have a VZ 24 that is being made into a 9.3 x 62. The bolt has a new bolt handle and the action is being surfaced ground and polished. I intend to heat treat it. Should I have the lugs lapped and the barrel installed and then removed and sent in for heat treating or should I have it heat treated before lapping the lugs, truing the action and installation of the barrel? Thanks for the advice.

The receiver should be lapped and machined , then heat treated .Pick an experienced heat treater and you won't have problems .Barrel can be fitted after HT.
