I ran across an old german single shot stalking rifle a few days ago that was chambered for an 8.15x46R cartridge. I've never even heard of that round before, much less know anything about it's performance or availability, bullet size, etc...

Anybody know about this cartridge?

elmo,I think you can make the round from either 32-40, or 30-40 krag brass not sure which, my understanding of the round was its about on par with the 30-30/32 spl. Track of the Wolf hd or has one under consignment, you mite try them for info

The cartridge can easily be made from 30/30 brass. I have a fine schuetzen by Aydt in that cartridge with a mold and RCBS dies. The finished bullet diameter is .318 for mine.

A friend has a cape rifle with that rifle barrel cartridge.
