Just got my Ruger M77 Mk.II back from my friend. He refinished the stock, added an ebony tip, cross-bolt, sling swivels and a red pad!

If you look closely, you will notice the scope needed clearance from the barrel.

Nice. I put NECG sights on mine. I also sent it back to Ruger to upgrade it with Hawkeye parts: LC-6 trigger, steel floorplate (logo) and new style stock (red pad and wraparound checkering). Now she's almost a twin to my 9.3x62 African.

Jason,

An attractive package your rifle.

Despite some critical opinion I consider Ruger makes a very attractive & functional set of rifle sights, and the classic red pad is nice, too.

Have fun with it. I'm pretty familiar with the potential of the 7x64 as I load for 2 Buddies that shoot this cartridge; it's a good one.

Cheers,

Guess I don't have a gunsmith's eye. (Wonder if he's tried mediums?)

What's it matter if he's happy with it as-is?

Very nice rifle.

That may be an option down the road.

The Mk II trigger was OK, but the LC-6 trigger is incredible. I'll try to post pics of the stock and sights.

Yes, Ruger hit a home run with the Hawkeye stock!

That was too easy. You're supposed to drag this out to four or five pages! Big Grin

Nice, nice rifle. IME, having tweaked a few, the Mark II trigger can be made into a fine trigger with little work. Same for the factory sights. I would throw an NECG sourdough blade up front and fit a fixed rear square notch blade (the CZ 527 Carbine works fine) zero and be done. Far more precise than a round bead IME. My old M77RS Whelen is so fitted and it just works.

Curious to see how well the swivel design works for you. I have had a set for 10 years that were to go on my 9.3x62 FN but I have held out (still no studs...) after reading of folks havng problems with them unexpectedly "releasing".

I have a set of matte low lightweight one piece S&K rings that would ice that cake. Wink
