Are any of you guys using the 180gr Nosler BTs out of your 300RUM for hunting? I would like to try them, but I'm a little concerned about penetration on deer sized game at the 300-400 yd range. I'm using the Partitions now, but want to get a little better accuracy, which I hear the BTs might offer.

I have taken four elk,two moose and one deer with the 180gr ballistic tip out of my 300ultramag.All bullets exited but one and that one was found under the skin on a large bull elk after it had passed through the chest and offside shoulder.Muzzle velocity in my rifle is 3375fps and ranges were from 80 to 377yards.

I'm getting GREAT accuracy out of 180gn NBT with once fired brass and 82gn of IMR 4831. I don't have a chrony, and I haven't shot a critter with the load yet but I'm getting groups smaller than .5" at 100 meters.

Nosler BT's, are the only bullet my 300RUM, wont shoot!!!
It shoots the Partition's much better....go figure.
Some people I know, have had problems w/ the BT'S on game, I dont know.
But, I would use the Partition anyway, and leave the BT alone......sakofan...
