With in the last year I have seemed to collect a few extra rifles that I want to change to other calibers.
The donor guns are:
1 SA Rem 700 (243)
3 LA Rem 700 (270)
1 LA Mag Rem 700 (7mm)
1 LA Mag Weatherby Van (7mm)
1 LA Weatherby Van (30-06)
Ok this is my list of calibers I THINK I need:

308 win on Rem SA

6.5mm-284 or 6.5-06 on Rem LA
6mm Reminton on Rem LA

300 RUM on Rem Mag LA

7mm STW on Weatherby Mag LA

If you had to pick 7 calibers wildcat or not what would they be? The 270 and 22-250 are not options and two can be magnums.
Thank for any input,
Mark

I am not real strong on wildcats in the field. Too many good std calibers out there for game.

I took another look.
(1)SA Rem make a 260 will run with ether of the 6.5 you mentioned.

(2)LA Rem 700 280AI will come very close to the 7RMag.

(3)LA Rem 338-06/35 Wheelen must have

(4)LA Mga 700 your 300RUM

(5)Sell Weatherby, buy a CZ (controlled feed) 375H&H

(6)Sell Weatherby #2 By CZ in 7mag have it rebarrel to 416 Taylor (Controlled feed).

(7) trade La 700 for a 223 of your choice.

That makes the most sense to me and gives you one hell of a spread to cover everything breathing. Not Weatherby bashing but IMO CZ 550s are about the best bang for the buck on controlled feeds.

Amazing. I would say the same thing except for the 375 H&H. In it's place I'd take a 6.5x55 built with no more than a 22" barrel, light weight with no more than a 4x scope (1-4x alright). It would not be difficult to change the 6.5x55 for a 7x57 but this year I'm on a 6.5 kick!

So, hopefully we know that "caliber" means hole size, so your 6.5's are the only new calibers. [/smartass]
But to answer your question, I'd love a 6.5 Winmag; that pre-64 down the road at $1250 would work if it were half-off. Others would be a Remington 7600 in 35 Whelen and a CZ in 470 Mbogo. Oh yeah. Kinda jonesin' for a 500 S&W, but everyone says I'm nuts. (Can't say I disagree!)
