Im thinking of another rifle project. Need a rifle for long range hunting. My first magnum caliber... :-) I am very attracted to the 264 Win Mag. And I look for some fine laminated stock producer in U.S.(standard wooden colour). I just want to have something that look nice and is practical too. Some recommendations??

Never used this product, but it seems decent. Corresponded with a couple of guys who own/owned one and they like them.

I've bought several stocks from Richards Microfit. http://rifle-stocks.com/

Here's a laminated one I got from them for my .375 RUM.

go to longrangehunting.com and search the forums for Joel Russo. He has a CNC mill and can machine for most actions.

I bought a beautiful stock from Richard's, fancy Walnut, for a Savage 10 I was building in .358 Winchester. Got it and it looked like a rabid beaver had gnawed it out of a log. It wasn't supposed to be a drop in but it was only supposed to need minor fitting and final sanding. Oh well, I had to remove a little wood to even get the action to sit in the stock. Once I did, I noticed that the action holes were off, the front hole being about 1/4" too far forward. I called Richard's, it took me almost 3 weeks to get a return to one of my calls btw, and they would do nothing for me since I had altered the stock. Even though I couldn't tell it was defective before I did so. They refused to do anything and were VERY rude. I cannot recommend them. I ended up being so disgusted with the whole experience that I gave up on the rifle entirely and sold the action. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Boyd's however.

Glad to hear about your experience with Richards. That is very negative behavior on their part. Sounds like good advice for an individual to avoid them.

microfits are very rough, buy the boyds. they have a full forearm capable of supporting a long, moderately heavy barrel and are good quality.

Most of the commercially available laminated stocks are made by Rutland. They're what Boyd's provides and what you see on factory rifles. For something that doesn't look laminated:

I don't know how their rifle stocks are, but Wenig makes some really nice shotgun stocks, and I know they do make laminate stocks (my friend got one for his Beretta DT-10 that was a really nice piece of wood). If I were looking for one that would be who I would go with.
