Hello from Scotland~

I am a recent convert to hard cast bullets, ammo supply for a .444 Marlin i bought forced me to get into casting and i am most impressed. I get a great deal of satisfaction reloading and even greater home loading bullets ive cast myself !

I recently bought a Marlin L.T.S .30-30 16" and love it to bits [Razz] as we know the .30-30 is a natural for hard cast bullets part of my reason for buying it.

I plan to run all of my rifles on cast fodder in time slowly buying moulds, sizer dies , gas checks etc... my .218 Bee should run well on cast as should my .30-30 and i know my .444 does. The only exception to these long necked natural cast shooters is my .308 Miroku M-bolt with its short neck its not the best choice for cast, a .30-06 would have been a better choice with hind sight........

How ever my reloading of this Miroku i decovered that my .308 has a very long throat in fact Hornady 170 gn .30-30 bullets can be seated out so far they are only just in the brass ! And still are "just" clear of the rifling, producing 2" groups at 200 yards !
Given its long throat it should shoot hard cast bullets well and still keep the gas check within the neck.......

I wonder how many other "cast converts" have got on with there bottle neck cartridges ??

Not any bottle-neck cartridges ..... but I have converted one of my .45-70's to cast bullets. A stainless Ruger #1 ..... have not actually shot any yet, but have many loaded and anxious to try it.

Cast bullets are fun, I too recently began making them and want to get some more moulds. I have a pair of 300 Savages that I was considering getting a 180 grn bullet for.
