Jim. I shoot 180's from my 338 Win mag at 3000 fps. They are extremely accurate using Re15 and hold together very well in deer sized game. The last deer I shot through the shoulder/lungs had the bullet coming out the far side with about a 2" exit wound. The internal trauma was about the same as a lighter rifle. It did not hit much bone and worked very well. This 338(I have 2)weighs the same as a 270/308/30-06 regular weight rifle so I use it and the lighter 180 Nosler BT bullets for all my smaller game and just carry a few 225's for grizzly if I see one. I wouldn't let the others feelings about using only heavier weight bullets in the 338 stop you as mine has almost totally replaced the lighter stuff as it weighs the same and the recoil isn't too much more. A lot can be said for only using 1 rifle for almost all of your hunting and being intimately familiar with it. Good luck and you will be happy with the results at my velocities. Steve

Well took your guys advice and loaded up some 225 Accubonds. Very nice! I'll use them on a mule deer next weekend [10-16-04] and give back a report. Very accurate at 3100 fps.

Jim, I spent a couple boxes worth of the Nosler 200gr. BT in my .338 this summer. I was mostly dissapointed. They shot no better than several other boxes of bullets and seemed to really come apart when shooting them into water jugs at 100 yards. I was hoping to link the photos here but Hunt101 seems to be on the fritz! I'll try to send them in a P.M. Nate
