I think 139gr SP Hornady Interlocks and 140gr Nosler Partitions would work just fine in your 7-08s with proper load development. I use 175gr versions of each in my 7 Rem Mag. The Hornady's are slightly more accurate, and of course you can't argue against the NP's effectiveness. Both penetrate very well and kill without a lot of bloodshot meat. I have some 160gr AccuBonds that I haven't played with yet, but they should work well also if my gun is accurate with them.

150gr Nosler Ballistic Tip is an excellent 7mm bullet.

I still have Nosler partitions for the 270/150 and 7 mag in 150/160/175 and though I have not loaded them in years I have no doubt they are just as good now as they where when I worked the loads up in the 80's when I hunted Colorado with the exception the vel may have dropped a little.

I am just looking for a lead nosed bullet that shoots well and does a better job for me better than the Nosler BT's have of late. I want that hole thru the far side and a good blood trail the 20-50 yards a deer may run in heavy cover.

Shooting the Nosler at 50 per box vs the Hornaday 139 in the interlock either BT or regular at 100 per box adds up if the Hornaday's work as well with the grouping.

Close to retiring I want to go back to shooing like I did back then. Got a farm near Marble Falls and can get a 400 range if I can keep the cows out of my face. They are a little too friendly. Wink

I have been using the 139gn Hornady Interlock SP for a number of years going along at c2650fps. Everything falls over with with little meat damage. In my 7x57 I have using the Remington 140gn Corelock Ammo with the same results.

Cannot get the Hornady bullets over here any more. I have been using the 173gn H-Mantle in my 7x65R with good effect on Boar, but they are bit too much for Roe deer - quite a mess. I am gong to try the speer 140gn, as well as the Fox 130 or 145gn bullets as I can get both easily.

That's the trouble with the 7mm and 30 calibers, so many good bullets, and they all work..

A Texas farm/ranch rifle covers a lot of territory, East Texas, central Texas, South Texas and West Texas are all very different terrain. but the 7x57 or 7-08 will handle the big game in all of it as will a many calibers...

For a every day PU rifle, I would opt for a 22-250, 222, 223 on the low side and a 250-3000 on the high side.

Me too. I would that or Winchester PowerPoint's would do everything you want.

Most of mine like the 120 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips.
The deer aren't too happy with them though.

In my 280 Rem., I use 140 gr. Win. Ballistic Sivertips on Antelope and Deer. I've killed a ton of Antelope with that round (plus my 25-06 with the 115 gr. Win. Bal. ST). Love it!

I also bought some Fed. 160 gr. Trophy Bonded Tip for elk hunting, but I've never used it yet. I always seem to grab a medium bore for that animal.

I've only used 175 gr. Fed. TBB in my 7mm Rem. mag. on elk and PG in Africa. I took it again on my last safari in Zambia for Leopard, but ended up using my 35 Whelen instead.

I have a 7x57 but have never hunted with it.

In my new Ruger African 275 Rigby, I've been shooting the Hornady 275 Rigby ammo with the 140 gr. Interlock. I like the properly head-stamped brass and hope to take it to Africa soon, like perhaps next year! Smiler

Finally, I own a factory Remington 7mm-06 which I have never shot, and another Remington in 7mm Remington Express with factory ammo properly stamped as such. Have never shot it either. One of these days... Frowner

I've been hunting with my 7x57 for over 40 years. I've used every bullet I could find between 130 and 160 gr for deer and hogs. Mostly whitetails, my favorite bullet is the 150 gr. Sierra GK. IMHO the 139 gr. Hornady is softer than I like. I have a modern rifle and load to modern pressures.

In my .280, I like 150 Partitions. In my 7RM, either 160 AccuBonds or 175 Partitions.
