Hi. I'm sorry, but I have already asked this question in another topic, but I felt that less people read that topic than this.(Benchrest and Target) So I hope there is more experiences here. I'm curious about his rifle, as the long range shooting thing is upp and comming here in Norway at the moment. I'm curious about this rifle. any experience is wanted. Accuracy?......and such? My thoughts: why use all that money to tune a good rifle, if you can buy it of the shelf. http://www.savagearms.com/ *Treat problems like a dog; Take a sniff ..... Not too many rifles peak my interest much anymore, as I already have what I need to cover about any use I can think of... I also prefer older rounds than the 6.5/284 cartridge or the 308 either.. HOWEVER; this rifle sure grabs my attention!!! No one in the USa who knows anything about rifles and accuracy are going to question the ability of Savage to produce a highly accurate rifle, and the AccTrigger is excellent.... The package also allows you to get an F Class set up pretty much ready to go, minus the scope on top of it... It is a bit spendy for my normal budget, but I plan on eventually getting one of these.. and once I do,I can see that it will be shot quite often... if I don't get one based on the caliber it is chambered it, I will build one in the caliber choice I choose... like 6.5 x 55, 260 or 6.5 x 57....or 6mm Rem.. cheers seafire Life Member: The American Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Jan 20, 2009.. I cannot speak for the Savage rifle, but can very strongly recomend the 6.5/284 cartridge. I have a 27" barreled and smithed by Hart Rifle Barrels in New York. I had the rifle built for long range Pdog shooting and have fired about 1,400 rounds through it. It is the most accurate rifle that I have ever owned, and I had the opportunity to own and shoot some prototype Sako 6 PPC rifles at one time! The 6.5/284 carries the distance and cuts the wind extremely well. This is what makes a long range cartridge work. My initial load development was so outstanding that I dare not print the truth! Let me just say that the 140/142 rain weight bullets at nearly 3,000 ft/sec initial velocity from a 1 in 9 twist killed 2 Pdogs at 1245 and 1247 yards with 2 shots. No decimals, but some sighters were omited in that statement. I plan on having the rifle rebarreled in as close to identical a chambering as possible, after it loses it's ability to amaze me. Well I have a 308 12BVSS(Lam SS) that I use for F-Class. It only has the hunting Accutrigger, which adjusted down to min. for me. Since this was my first season competeing,I didn't win any matchs. But the rifle will shoot around a 1" at 300m,so it wasn't the rifles fault. You can hunt longer with the wind at your back | |||
