I inherited my grandfather's Belgian BAR (late-70's production I think) and had a question regarding its disassembly. As far as I know, the gas operating system has never been disassembled and cleaned. I downloaded one of the older owner's manuals off of the internet, but it states that the gas regulator can be removed with a 5/8" wrench. My regulator is round (not hexagonal) with a slot cut into it like a screw. My question is, did the model that I have come with a special wrech that assisted in removing the regulator? I don't see how one could remove it otherwise. Thanks, John

If you are not really familiar w/ BARs I would suggest you take it to a local smith and ask him to show you how to break it down and reassemble the rifle. BARs are notorious for guys taking them apart and having to get a smith to reassemble. Good Luck Reloader
