Im putting new rings on my 338wm and have been thinking about putting an AO scope on it, that is currently collecting dust, instead of the fixed objective one Im using now. Is it a bad idea to have an AO scope on a rifle that might be used to hunt dangerous game someday? Opinions appreciated.

I don't have AO scopes on any of my hunting rifles. I think its just something else that can screw up at a very embarassing moment. What could go wrong, I haven't the slightest but Murphy's law is always in effect when I'm around.
What do you think the advantages of an AO would be in the field?
