Couldn't resist a good deal...picked up a new Ruger 77 Mk.ll Frontier in 358 Win. Does anyone out there have one, or better yet..is anyone loading for a 358 Win in any rifle and might have a pet load or two they would share. I have a large selection of bullets to try from 180 gr. to 250gr. jacketed and 300 gr cast. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I bought one of the first ones in this area...matter of fact it was on a local dealer's rack the day I called Ruger and was told it would be 2-4 more weeks before thay were to be released.... Have only tried two loads, one with the 220 grain Speer HotCore and the other with a 180 grain Hornady Silhouette bullet. I can't recall the amount of powder in grains but apparently one can not stuff enough WW748 in the case to cause anything like pressure signs as the case could not contain any more powder and seat the bullet. Velocity was in the 2300s for the 220 and 2400 for the 180 I believe... Going to try IMR3031 next time as I would like the 220 up in the low 2400s if possible. Bob

I've got one in a 338 federal. I love it. It's going to be my hog stomper this year. Haven't actually used it in the feild yet, but it is accurate on the range. Be aware that with that 16 in. barrel, the barrel will jump a bit when you shoot the .358. Recoil is insignificant. 308 , nikon monarch 2-8x28 EER, sims pad. next step is to lighten by having a pal w/ a CNC hollow out the buttstock and fill it with spray in hardning foam , maybe open up the BBL channel a bit, then install flush mount sling swivels so i can use the same slings i do on my steyrs. i might set up a conventional scope as a spare as well.
