I worked up a load last year for a friend to shoot. 3 deer and only recovered one bullet from a steep angling hit, 20 inches of penetration. Saturday I shot a 200 pound feral hog thru the spine behind the shoulders. Nice controlled expansion, didn't tear up much backstrap and dropped the hog. However a second shot was needed, the downward angled shot went thru the hogs head from left to right exiting thru the jaw bone and also going thru the hogs leg just above it's "wrist" and went into the ground. Wish I had thought to dig it up. I am using H414 to get slightly under 3000fps in my 22 inch barreled 270. The first shot on the hog was at 100 yards and she was moving at a fast trot. The mild load I built for my friend was not all that accurate at 1 1/2 inches, the warmer load puts three shots almost touching in a neat little triangle.

I shoot 130 grain Nosler Solidbase bullets with my two .270 WSM's and find them extremely accurate. I have not taken any animals with them yet but hope to someday. I bought a shelf full from the Nosler Store as cosmetic blems. Good shooting.

I took a pretty big 8 point today with the same load. Hit just behind the shoulder the solid base traveled diagonally across the 175 pound whitetails body to exit just in front of the hindquarter. It left a 1/2 inch exit hole and did not hugely damage the deer's intestines, very controlled expansion. The deer ran 15 yards and dropped.

Nosler still makes this bullet, which it supplies to commercial ammunition companies. You can occassionally buy it as a "second" from resellers (although those I've seen appear to have no defects or blemishes).
I've been using it exclusively in my .270 and have had nothing but outstanding accuracy and perfect performance on deer and hogs. My pet theory is that the reason Nosler quit making this bullet for retail sales is that its performance was too close to that of their Partition, and its price too close to that of a Remchester.
I also use it in the .243/100 grain version, which is also a proven deer and hog killer.

These were also bought at the Pro Shop, rather cheaply too. I also bought some in 6MM and 30 caliber but have not loaded either yet. In my opinion this is an excellent controlled expansion bullet, way better than the average cup and core bullet out there.

Yes I also feel the solid base bullets were much better than the early ballistic tip bullets. In fact when Nosler discontinued their line of solid based bullets I was mad about it for a while but I still used the Partitions and waited till the Ballistic tip bullets got better and they have turned into some pretty useful bullets.

I've used the .30/150s on West Texas hogs and deer with great success from both a .30-06 and a .308.
I also used the .30/165's in a .30-06 as our group's back-up rifle on a plains game hunt in Namibia where I took a baboon and a jackal with it. These aren't hard-to-kill targets, but I was confident enough in the bullet to hunt larger game like kudu and oryx with it should any of our party's primary rifles have become disabled.
