Hi everyone, Sometime in the next few months, I'm going to be receiving a stack of these from Hornady, courtesy of their "free" bullet incentive. Has anyone used these extensively, and how do they perform on game? Usually I'm skeptical of BT bullets in non-premium designs; are these as fragile as most of the other BT bullets? My son and I have been using them (139 gr.) for years in the .280 Remington. We notice no difference on game between the bt and the standard interlock. We hunt deer in W..Va. By the way, they are both are actually "interlock" bullets. I haven't used the box of interbonds in 139 gr. I just bought for my new 7mm-08, so I cannot comment on them. They are stouter due to being a bonded bullet. They cannot, in my mind, help but be better and if not, just as good. Regards, Don

Same as Don, but at 7mm-08 starting velocity. I've used a good many Hornady Interlocks and the 0.284" 139gr versions work just fine for me. I've never had a failure(from any manufacturer) and I know for sure I've stuck these directly into Shoulder areas with no problems.

I have used them for several loads in different calibers. My 7x30 Water Contender shoots them so close out to 200yds it isn't even fun to shoot at the bulls eye more than a couple of times, as the hole simply gets a little bigger. Dumped a couple of does with them and no issues what so ever even at the lower velocities. My .280 also drives them home within a dime at 100 and around a nickle at 200. Only shot one hog with them from this rifle, but it was a decent one, and with a complete pass through shoulder to shoulder. The 7 mag runs them out at a great pace. They will do all things necessary to put both deer and hogs down out to 400yds. Overall I have close to 1K or more of them and if that isn't enough enough confidence in a report I can't help. Back in the 70's I ordered a new 7Wby Mag and picked up some factory ammo loaded with Hornady's SP 139gr/154gr bullets. Just pulled up Wby site and there still using those bullets. VFW

+1 with the 139 grain bullets in 7-08. Excellent bullet with no issues.

Practically all I've ever used is the 162 gr. interlock, on everything from deer to Grizzly. Nobody complained, so far. I haven't shot them in my 280 until very recently.I'm still working on loads using them. My ace compadre has been shooting them in his 7-08 Ackley (which is his ONLY deer rifle) for over 20 years.I've never seen any failure of these bullets in all the deer he's shot in all these years.I ranged a Wyoming Mulie for him two years ago at 426 yards and it was a through and through shoulder shot. The deer took two steps and collapsed. I've shot a helluva bunch of the Hornady 165s outa various 30 cals and have always had excellent performance on game.

I wish I could get boat tails Especially Hornady, to shoot in my rifles. My 280, 7-08, and 7x57 all shoot the 139 flat bases at aboout .75 to 1.5 most any way I load them. Hornady 139 gr.boat tails almost never better than 1.5 and mostly around 2 in. grooups. So I never shoot them at game when the flat bases and Sierras do so much better. I realize I am in the minority here. I have the same problem with them in all calibers from an accuracy standpoint. But I love the Hornaday flat base bullets. Merg

My Remington .280 Mountain Rifle will put ten 139 BTSP into 3/4" as fast as I can aim and shoot. I've been using this bullet in that rifle since 1992 and have killed deer as close as fifteen steps and antelope at 312 steps. This bullet always works. It will both hold together on a close shot and expand on a long shot.

Had a 7 Mag for a while that shot them very accurately and dropped deer and hogs like thors hammer. Free men should not be subjected to permits, paperwork and taxation in order to carry any firearm. NRA Benefactor

Excellent bullet for the 7x57 and .280 Remington based on actual experience on mule deer. Larry Gibson

Another vote for tha Hornady 139 grain interlock bullet. I've used them in the 7x57 and the 7mm-08, both proved to be reliable game on the grass rounds.

BT's don't shoot quite as well as flatbase at 100 yards in my .280 Rem or 7x64 . Otherwise I love the 139-grainers and have had no complaints on whitetail. _______________________
