Well I finally picked up this thing 700 BDL SS 7 SAUM at a really good price. Should be fun working up loads for it. First thing it needs is a Gretan firing pin assembly and a scope. I am seriously considering buying out the sellers inventory of loaded ammo 20 boxes of 140 gr corelockt ultra and 5 boxes of 140 corelockts . Plus he has 5 bags of brass(50). That should keep me out of trouble for awhile. Anyone own one of these deals and if so how do they shoot? Thanks.

Buying a SAUM has got to be a gutsy move but if the seller has that much brass available then you just might have brass for a life time! There's no reason it shouldn't be a fine big game round as long as you have the bases covered with ammo! One thing for sure.....you have something most folks do not have! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." It's a good round and remington and nosler load for it. I don't think it will go anywhere anytime soon quite frankly. Around where I live you run into as much of it as you do 280 and maybe more and in fact you'll hardly see 7 WSM ammo or brass. The rifle is definitely an upgrade over the SPS and it cost less then a new SPS stainless . Worst comes to worst I can always clean up the chamber and make it a WSM or rebarrel and make it a 270 WSM

I bought a NIB model 700SS in 300 SAUM about a year ago for $350. Got 200 new cases from E-bay, dies from E-bay,Callahan speed lock, Leupy 3.5x10x40, Talley lightweights & Ti stock. The rifle shoots 165 Sierra HPBTs into .75" at 2980fps . I think that is a lot of rifle for the money.

I have a Rem model 7 in 7SAUM. I think its a great round. Ive had great success with it on mule deer, bighorn sheep, and have used it to hunt elk and black bear. I use Nosler Custom Ammo in it. 160 Accubonds shoot awesome groups in my set up. Partitions are almost as good. All in all its a great all around gun for me. Enjoy!

I always thought the SAUM design was a bit better than the WSM, just late as Remington usual. Lay in 300 or so cases & you should be set for a lifetime of hunting rounds. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

I have one in 7mm saum. It shoots great with any weight bullet I've tried in it.
