Slammer, How about a 300WSM? Originally, ammo was a little challenging to find but I see it everywhere now as the popularity has (and continues) grown. I have both a 270WSM and 300WSM, love them both.

I guess if it were me I would handle as many rifles as I could and look for what fit best. Then I would look at the calibers it was available in. Jeff

Well, personally, I think you should buy a remwinruger model 7000 in my favorite caliber (7mm-300 doeverything). If you don't, I am going to be greatly offended, and anyone that disagrees with me here is going to bear my wrath - which they will richly deserve because anyone that disagrees with me can only be a complete idiot (except for my wife - who disagrees with me frequently and manages to not be an idiot). If you don't want to follow this advice, the next best thing is to buy a gun, use it for one year, and trade it off for a new one. This is great fun, and it helps the economy. (don't pay attention to those that complain you can't get good unless you just use one gun - they are communists). Be warned, though, that you will look back on most of them and wish you still had them. Eventually you will decide that it is better to just buy a new one every year and keep the old ones. This is where wife problems begin to develop. You just have to be creative in dealing with this. Good luck. Glad to be of assistance! PS, I actually do have a comment. If you want to be able to buy ammo anywhere, don't buy a 7mm08. This is my favorite caliber, but being able to buy it anywhere is not its strong suit. Mike
